At a time when CBT was not yet well-known, Dr. Michael Spevack was a pioneer by establishing our Clinic at the Montreal General Hospital (MGH) in 1972, where it remained for 40 years. Dr. Spevack was well known in the community: he held positions in the Psychology Department and the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University and was a guest speaker at numerous national and international conferences and was a strong presence on Montreal radio. Dr. Spevack was an exceptional mentor to CBT interns throughout his career, including to Dr. Luisa Cameli, whom he appointed, prior to his passing in 2009, as Clinic Director. As his legacy, the clinic continues to provide quality CBT services to the Montreal community and now to other communities, as well as training to interns, and continues to advance research. In 2002, the clinic moved from the MGH to the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex in NDG-Westmount near the MUHC, and in 2022, a second location was added in the Le Plateau borough of Montreal.
